Every year we say au revoir to Paris Fashion Week, but we are inspired by the street style of the attendees forever. This year’s PFW SS22 was not the exception, and it brought us a mix of textures, patterns, and fabrics and – of course – diversity of people who are not afraid to stand out with what they wear.
Tonya Matyu – member of our photographer community – was there to experience it all, as her “biggest inspiration and drive to create comes during fashion week seasons – capturing street style and backstages of the shows”. Thus, she traveled to the most significant cities this season like Copenhagen, Milan and Paris to “see what’s going on again and showcase the unique styles”.
Certainly, a variety of runway shows and afterparties filled the Paris schedule. In this review you’ll find street styles captured before and after the following shows: Acne Studios, Chloe, Dior, Kenneth Ize, Koche, Lacoste, Louis Vuitton, Rochas, Stella McCartney, Victoria/Thomas and Vivienne Westwood.

With a crowd of individuals, duos and trios wearing bold colors, tailored gear, chunky shoes, extravagant capes and other fashion statements, it is difficult to decide who and what to capture.
As Tonya says, “when it comes to my selection of what to capture, I usually trust the looks showing variety of textures and materials, patterns and the way the textile works in the movement – to show through a picture how the clothes are working when being worn and styled in so many different and unique ways.”

“Most of the show guests are well known people of the industry such as editors, buyers, fashion influencer, actors, models and further celebrities. However, that is never my rule to follow when shooting street style – it is only about the style and its aesthetic.”

Tonya Matyu is a freelance photographer born in Belarus and based in Berlin, Germany. She has worked mostly in the fashion industry within the last years, especially in Europe and some countries around the globe.
